Bhim tal (lake named after Bhim [one of 5 pandavas]). There is an island at the centre of the lake; I would have liked to go there and enjoy a cup of tea. However, we had only half an hour; I had come as part of a one day lake-tour package of GMVM.
A mini temple on the shore of Nainital lake. A donkey seem to enjoy the shade of the tree.
A giant Hanuman statue enroute bhimtal (the uttaranchal (or is it nainital or garhwal) university campus is a couple of kilometers behind this temple).
A flowering tree is blooming
A school in Nainital (halfway up the surrounding hill).
An young, enthusiastic lad from Kolkata accompanied me duringthe tour. I was supposed to get the mountains behind him in the picture. Alaas, the lights did not permit that.
I had to wear my sweaters - a rare event in hot and humid mumbai
A terrace tea stall was serving hot tea and snacks. The mountains (in the background) are barely visible.
This is a scanned version of a picture postcard. The panchchuli (5 peaks/ sisters) are visible. Our pictures were to have them in the background. Unfortunately, poor light and inadequate contrast of my camera did not succeed in doing so.
